Type of Book: Multiauthored textbook.
Scope of Book: This book offers a balanced and extensive overview of the critical issues in the field of andrology.
Contents: A wide range of topics from the physiology of sperm maturation and fertilization to ethical aspects of reproductive medicine is covered. The material is presented in a concise, easy-to-read fashion. The text is beautifully illustrated with clear diagrams and figures and exceptional color photographs. The bulk of the text is dedicated to the key areas that comprise andrology, but the book also covers less commonly addressed topics such as the psychology of fertility disorders and the ethical aspects of reproductive medicine.
Strengths: The text is particularly strong in the areas of diagnosis and management of a wide range of medical conditions, detected in the infertile male ranging from congenital conditions to reproductive toxicants.
Deficiencies: The text does not provide the same depth in the areas of surgical management of varicoceles or microsurgical reconstructions of the genitourinary tract.
Recommended Readership: Overall this is an excellent reference text, which hopefully will adorn the bookshelves of all physicians who are interested in the field of Andrology.
Overall Grading:
